The territory in which we will operate is located in an area with a strong eco-touristic vocation surrended from the High Atlas mountains, just 60 km from Marrakech.
HOW:
The project devised by Angelo Bellobono in collaboration with Aniko Boehler, through an artist residency programme entails the realization of the first Atlas Spread out museum, workshops and training activities for ski club and instructors to empower their knowledge and the local microeconomy in an eco sustainable way. We works to estabilish the project and uses a partecipatory development approach that includes beneficiaries as active partners of the development process. Atlas(s)now comes from the need to make a breakthrough to the territory through the integration of key concepts to the social structure such as art and sport. The project aims at strengthening the development of local offers through:
- Creation of an artists residence and realization of the spread out Atlas Museum.
- Training and updating of the local ski instructors and create / increase of a local ski club
- Creation of a ski rent with the donated equipments collected in Italy
- Activation of a local micro-economy (through the use of local resources for artistic and cultural
production)
- Promoting the benefits of continuity (the continuity of the project in time) Enhancement of the professionalism and talent of locals
The artists in residence are invited to prepare a site specific project discussed constantly during the realization with the local community. Each project will be built along with the Atla(s)now team and artist will be able to find only local material and labor to carry out the work to encouraging the principles of microeconomics. The territory, through the widespread presence of the Museum and the increase of the professional skills of the instructors, will see grow the tourist offer through parameters of great ethical and ecological value and wider cultural significance.
